About

Raise High the Multicultural Student Services Center at GW!
Building Belonging. Cultivating Leaders. Creating Home.

At the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC), we empower students to connect across differences, celebrate their identities, and embrace our shared humanity. Through dynamic programs, cultural celebrations, leadership initiatives, and community-building events, the MSSC creates transformative opportunities for students to grow in confidence, deepen cultural understanding, and develop the skills to lead inclusive communities on campus and beyond.

As a vibrant hub at GW, the MSSC is more than a center—it is a home away from home. It is a welcoming space where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to thrive together.

This Giving Day, your support fuels the programs that foster belonging, amplify diverse voices, and strengthen the GW community. Every contribution helps us to continue to create meaningful experiences that shape leaders, build bridges, and ensure all students have the opportunity to learn, belong, and flourish.

Join us in raising high the MSSC and investing in the power of community.

What Your Giving Day Gift Can Support at the MSSC ๐Ÿ’›

Your generosity directly fuels community, connection, and student success at the Multicultural Student Services Center. Here is how your gift can make an immediate and meaningful impact:

  • ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ $1,500 — Breaking Bread Program
Covers food and supplies for bi-weekly Breaking Bread series, creating space for students to share stories, build relationships across differences, and engage in meaningful dialogue about contemporary issues facing the GW student community over a shared meal and activity.
  • ๐Ÿด $2,000 — Community Dinner
Funds one large-scale Community Dinner, bringing students together in a welcoming environment to celebrate culture, foster belonging, and strengthen community bonds. These dinners are hosted at the beginning and end of the semester to welcome students back to campus, celebrate their triumphs of the semester, and fill their spirits and stomachs as they navigate finals season.
  • ๐ŸŒ $20,000 — Multi-Day Social Justice Retreat
Supports a transformative, multi-day leadership and social justice retreat where students deepen their understanding of identity, equity, and collective power while building lifelong connections. Students are able to stay off-site so they can be completely immersed in a deep learning environment.
  • ๐Ÿ‘• Gender Affirming Closet
Expands access to free, affirming clothing and personal items that allow students to express their authentic selves with confidence and dignity. Your support helps maintain inventory and ensure students can access what they need without financial barriers.
  • ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ 2SLGBTQIA+ Resource Lounge
Enhances and sustains a dedicated space for LGBTQ+ students and allies to gather, find resources, build community, and experience belonging in an affirming environment.
  • ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ MSSC Furniture Upgrades
Helps refresh and reimagine our space to ensure the MSSC remains a comfortable, vibrant home away from home for students to gather, study, and build community.
  • ๐Ÿฅซ MSSC Pantry
Sustains essential pantry resources that directly support students experiencing food insecurity, ensuring that basic needs do not become barriers to success.
  • ๐ŸŽ“ Conference Registrations for Students
Provides funding for students to attend conferences that expand their networks, enhance their leadership development, and connect them to national conversations around culture, identity, and advocacy.

Every gift, at every level, strengthens our ability to cultivate belonging and empower students to lead inclusive communities. Thank you for investing in the MSSC and in the power of community. ๐Ÿ’ซ
