Kidney disease is the fastest-growing noncontagious disease in the United States, and here in Washington, D.C., we are at the epicenter with the country's highest prevalence. In areas of the District, end-stage renal disease is 44 times the national average.
Fortunately, kidney failure is preventable, but early detection is critical. We at the GW Ron and Joy Paul Kidney Center and the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences are deeply committed to educating the Washington, D.C. metropolitan community about kidney disease, advancing research, and providing patients the treatment options they need, including kidney transplantation.
Through the Center’s educational outreach programs, we’ve screened nearly 2,000 people in the D.C. area and detected early-stage kidney disease in 45% of those screened, helping many seek treatment to reverse the disease's effects.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your help!
You can support our efforts by providing the at-risk communities in our area with the tools to take control of their kidney health—like at-home blood pressure cuffs, a critical tool in managing kidney health. At-home testing helps keep tabs on a patient's blood pressure, providing an early indication of potential kidney health complications.
Your gift of $50, $100, or $250 will provide at-risk individuals in our region with the resources they need to control and combat their kidney disease.
Will you help us advance kidney care and raise awareness? Donors like you help ensure that every kidney patient has access to quality health care and the tools to empower them to get involved in their kidney health!
