Medicine is an ever-evolving science that strives to find new ways to better understand human health. Weโve learned so much from the rapid response of the past two years and our field demonstrated remarkable resilience. At the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), we continue our COVID response and deliver on the promise of a transformative education while meeting the healthcare needs of our community.
The pandemic has taken an immense toll on our caregivers and care systems. At SMHS, weโre leading change and looking forward by developing the talents of our future physicians, researchers, and caregivers while also prioritizing the health and well-being of our current medical workforce.
The generosity of our alumni and friends enables us to tackle student debt and equal access to education while also safeguarding and improving physician resiliency and advancing investigative research.
With your support on this Giving Day, we can continue to achieve great things. At SMHS, we teach, heal, discover, and serve because of the dedication and contributions of our community. Open the door for the next generation of health providers and leaders.
"I am grateful to be a scholarship recipient. Not only does it help reduce the financial burden of taking out loans, but it also gives me a different perspective on my education. It reminds me that I am not just here for myself, but for others. The education that I take away from GW will be for the benefit of the communities that I will be a part of and for the benefit of those who I can help and encourage - maybe financially, one day. As someone has paid it forward for me, it is important that I do not forget that. " Elizabeth Okundaye, SMHS โ25
Priorities
SMHS Student Aid
Gifts in support of MD, PT, PA and Health Sciences student aid provide merit and need-based assistance. Support for student scholarships ensures that qualified students, regardless of financial resources, can take full advantage of a GW education.
Workforce Resiliency
The GW Resiliency & Well-Being Center (R&W Center) supports individual, departmental, and institutional levels, and is the foundation of whole person health. To support the meaningful contributions of all employees and trainees at GW, the R&W Center provides whole person care and education at all levels.
