The I Heart GW Public Health Campaign is the Public Health Student Association's annual student-to-student fundraiser that invites students to support their peers through philanthropy and invest in the GWPSH student family. This year, the campaign hits different because of the significant needs of our student colleagues. Please join PHSA in supporting GWSPH students facing difficult circumstances during the pandemic.
The Public Health Rapid Response Fund provides critical support to GWSPH students in need as a result of unexpected financial hardship, including needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Your donations to the campaign will directly aid students who need assistance with housing and transportation expenses, who need to offset income from lost jobs, and who need other financial assistance so they may learn and study in a safe, secure environment.
Gifts of all sizes to the Public Health Rapid Response Fund have a profound impact on students.
- $50 provides a grocery gift card for a student facing food instability.
- $100 provides an internet hotspot for a student to reliably log in to online classes.
- $500 helps cover the cost of a laptop.
- $1000 helps provide housing assistance.
Students who make a $50 one-time gift or pledge of $10/year for 5 years will receive an I Heart GW Public Health t-shirt as a thank you gift.
Alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and family are invited to join in supporting students as well!
Thanks to Dr. Richard Riegelman, Professor of Epidemiology and Founding Dean of GWSPH, the first $1500 in donations will be matched dollar for dollar. Give today to double your support for public health students facing financial hardships.

The applications for support range from groceries, to hygiene products, rent, laptop repairs, and other critical support to ensure safe, healthy learning environments.
Though we are reaching the final days of the I Heart GW Public Health campaign, the need among the public health student body is clearly great. Please continue to support public health students by tapping any of the share buttons on the campaign page to share the campaign with your networks! Gifts of all sizes make an impact for students facing hard times.
Thank you so very much for your support of public health students through the Public Health Rapid Response Fund!
1325 days ago by Sarah Hofman-Graham[Video transcript] Hello! So after just donating to I Heart GW Public Health Campaign, I just want to give you an update. So we just hit 100 donors so that means we’re halfway to our goal of 200 donors with one week left in the campaign. We have raised over $12,000, which is amazing, and we’re still asking for more support as we know the need in our communities is great. We have already had dozens of applications to the Public Health Rapid Response Fund and we want to make sure we can help all our fellow students in need. If you haven't donated yet, go donate now at the link [above]. Every student donation is automatically matched with a $50 donation so any donation could have a large impact.
$50 provides a grocery gift card for a student facing financial food instability.
$100 provides an internet hotspot for a student to reliably log into online classes.
$500 helps cover the cost of a laptop.
$1000 helps provide housing assistance. (And you know that’s just one month in DC.)
So we need 71 more students who will donate to maximize this donor match. If you’re unable to donate, become an advocate! Get your friends, family, and your fellow students to support. You can learn how to be an advocate on the donation page. If you have already donated, ask everyone you know to support. And lastly, if you’re a student in need, please apply for the fund at the link go.gwu.edu/phrapidresponse.
Thank you so much for the amazing support so far! And we ask for your help to continue to make a big impact to help students in this final week. Make the most of it!

We hope you'll join us in reaching our goal of 100 student donors!
