Change a Student’s Life and Change the World
For the last 200 years, GW students have been changing the world. The knowledge, talent, and accomplishments of our community raise GW higher every day. By supporting GW students this Giving Day, you are laying the foundation for future generations for the next 200 years and beyond. Will you join us and help to build the future?
Ways you can support GW:
Student Scholarships
- Increasing the amount of need-based scholarship support available for students has been identified as a critical need. In spring 2020, almost 43 percent of the 10,365 undergraduate students received need-based scholarships or grant aid. Without additional philanthropic investment, students’ full need is unable to be met. By supporting scholarships, the generosity of donors helps to ensure that qualified GW students, regardless of financial resources, can pursue their studies and take full advantage of the GW experience.
“Thank you so much for sponsoring this scholarship! This scholarship gave my family and me a sigh of relief, knowing that financing my education would not be as difficult as we assumed. With this scholarship, I no longer feel worried about the financial aspect of college and can focus more on my academic career while at GW.” Rachel Aragona, SEAS ’21
Student Programs and Support
- Direct student support is one of the most impactful ways to make a difference at GW. These critical funds help to ensure that all of our students have access to the resources they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. High-priority funding areas provide GW students access to programs that help to build personal and academic support networks and engage our students and alumni in developing a sense of the GW community no matter where they are in the world. Gifts made to these areas positively affect the lives of students at the university now and for years to come.
“The GW Cares Assistance award was a 'breath of fresh air' in a difficult time. I had been searching for ways to cater to my financial needs during the COVD-19 pandemic because I was unemployed. To the donors of this award, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. I was blessed because you gave. Thank you!” Anonymous Graduate Student, GWSPH
University Initiatives
- University-wide initiatives offer the opportunity to have the largest possible impact on students at GW. Whether that support is through student organizations, the Thurston Hall renovation, or increased library access and resources, these crosscutting funds are pivotal in ensuring that GW remains a world-class university. Throughout his tenure, President Thomas LeBlanc has maintained that the student experience and accessibility to GW remain top priorities. University-wide initiatives affect the widest array of students and reflect the university’s commitment to achieving preeminence as a global research university.
“The GW Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, through its various programs and mentors, has done an exceptional job guiding my team and me to shift our focus from the laboratory to the market and approach the challenges of commercializing life science technologies from a unique point of view.” Lucas Vining, CCAS ’22
Schools and Units
- Part of the GW experience is finding a sense of community in the campus area that fosters a student’s growth both academically and personally. By supporting schools, colleges, and athletics, you are directly impacting the areas on campus that shape the direction of a student’s life. Whether it is taking part in research, being part of a team, or listening to an award-winning professor, these experiences shape who our students become. Make a gift to schools, colleges, and athletics, and make a difference.
Make a gift this Giving Day. Change the world one GW student at a time.
